Unable to find UK Freeview HD Channels - Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD

I’m having a problem getting UK Freeview HD channels detected in Plex - I’m running:

  • Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, with the kernel update applied (I think; I had a boot issue and ended up using recovery tool that may have reverted to a vanilla version)
  • Hauppauge WinTV Quad HD

dvbv5-scan runs and finds the HD channels:

chris@media-pc:~$ dvbv5-scan /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/uk-BristolKingsWeston -a 1
[output omitted]
Scanning frequency #6 674000000

w_scan appears to find the HD channels as well:

But, when it comes to Plex, nothing shows up

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Having spent a week digging around, I bit the bullet this weekend and reinstalled Ubuntu from scratch, installing Ubuntu 17.04 (via 17.10, but that’s a PICNIC error - problem in chair, not in computer), then adding the PPA referenced from the Hauppauge web site and finally downloading the dvb-demod firmware from OpenELEC. All is now working as hoped.

The only thing I can think may have been at the root of my troubles was something hanging over from my initial setup using a Hauppauge HVR-2200 Media Centre Edition card that doesn’t support DVB-T2.
