Unable to hardware transcode on WebOS and PS5

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#:

  • OS: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (Jammy)
  • Hardware: Intel 13th Gen i9-13900H (Iris Xe Graphics)
  • GPU drivers: i915 loaded, /dev/dri/renderD128 accessible, confirmedplex user in video and render groups.

Plex Media Server Logs_2025-09-20_13-55-09.zip (3.9 MB)

What I’ve tried:

  1. Verified GPU support (intel_gpu_top shows activity on other transcodes).
  2. Confirmed hardware acceleration is enabled in Plex settings.
  3. Confirmed permissions on /dev/dri/renderD128.
  4. Got AI to write some custom XML client profiles for LG and PS5 → same issue.
  5. Direct Playw and HW Transcoding work on my Android TV and Apple TV, but WebOS/PS5 force transcode and fail, then revert to software.

Two clients causing me issues

@plotikai

You turned off DEBUG logging. This greatly impedes, almost prevents, diagnosing what’s happening.

I would appreciate you doing the following:

  1. Enable server DEBUG logging then SAVE the change
  2. Restart PMS
  3. Wait 3 minutes for PMS to startup and become stable
  4. Now recreate the playback failure
  5. Download the Logs ZIP file
  6. Attach the ZIP here

Sorry about that, but I think i figured it out. I set audio to 5.1 instead of trueaudio and it worked. Im guessing intel xe doesnt support audio transcoding and these clients dont support truehd
