Unable to Open Xbox One UWA Beta Version

Hello,

Its my understanding that the new Modern Plex app for Windows is a UWA (Universal Windows App). This means it can run on Windows 10, Windows 10 Phone, Xbox One, HoloLens, etc.

I received the Plex Beta invite and I have installed on my Surface Pro 3, seems to be working well. I went to my Xbox One and the Plex Beta app was there as well; however, it would not allow me to launch and said the following message “Your account is not authorized to use this app”.

I am logged into my Xbox one with the same MSA account as my Surface Pro 3. Which is why it automatically installed the Plex Beta app.

Should the app be working on my Xbox One? Honestly I care more about that because I’ve wanted a search option for a very long time!

P.S. If your truly writing a UWA be sure to show case it on the HoloLens! That would be awesome to see Plex running there!

This beta is only for Windows desktop/tablet.

@vashachiroku at what Xbox one build are you? I am on the Redstone release with both consoles and I do not see the UWA plex app there.

I kind of work at MS so I’m on an internal build normally a few released ahead of the public. I’ve had Cortana and Edge for some time now.

Yea it says “Your account does not have permission to use this application” Typically that means my MSA account hasn’t been granted access to the App.

ah that explains  your in the MS internal ring. I envy you

LOL sometimes its ok! Controlling Plex with Cortana has been nice! However Doom gave me a few issues, and when Forza came out my steering wheel didn’t work for the first two weeks.

Other than that I try to give as much feedback as possible!

I have enough Xbox ones to enroll one and leave some others on other builds so that would be ok for me.
And now the Xbox One S will hit my wish list, just waiting on the other xbox that is expected. My Household just needs one more xbox, specially with UWA support around the corner

I just hope that Cortana finally becomes generally available to all regions, even just in any of the allready supported languages, that would cover 99% of world population. Now I feel left out of all the Cortana goodness just because I live in a to small country (even though here in the nl our tech adaption is one of the highest on the globe :()

well that was fast, at e3 the support of language free region settings was announced and worked last night on my insider build. I finally can set my XBox one to EN-US with cortana support while keeping my region to Netherlands. Thats a big thing from my list of wishes (now for the PC/Phone also :))

Awesome! I’m going to skip the S, because I think 2017 will be something else in the pipeline. Plus my TV needs updated to 4K else no point. TV is a hard purchase because the current TV is working great!

Me: “Let’s get the S, it’s smaller and white!”
Wife: “Can it do more? It sits in a cabinet and it doesn’t matter how big it is.”
Me" “But…It’s pretty :(”

Yeah its a thing for me too. I love the S specs. Getting HDR and 4K is a great thing. But I have no 4K tv yet since there is also little reason right now. Only Netflix and Youtube have some 4K content and that is not worth a bunch of money at this time for me. My TV provider is testing a 4K tuner right now, but it will a long time before there is actuall tv channels using that. Besides my 100Mbps internet connection is just not up to a huge streaming support for tv channels to multiple device in 4K.
So buying this and a new tv and get the new tuner just for some netflix series is a bit much. But HDR might be a big thing, I love that tech.

That said I need a 3rd XBox one. Me and my 6 year old son are true gamers so we have competition on the one that is left over after my wife or 5 year old daughter claim the main one for watching media content. So I was hoping for a XBox media device that would support streaming from a real XBox one. But that is not mentioned now at the e3.

I have been debating on a 4k projector instead this time and turn my whole wall into a TV =), but I saw my friends 63in curved TV and it was amazing.

The problem is the damn smart tvs come with too much. I don’t really need or want 3d, I don’t need or want their ■■■■■■ OS. Between Xbox, Apple TV 4, Roku, etc. there is honestly no need for the smart TV OS.

Honestly I don’t even use my TV remote anymore except to change HDMI sources. The Xbox and Apple TV power on/off the TV and control the volume.

I set this up a couple months ago: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CiNDgoyWkAA0B9B.jpg:large
And it is awesome.
Projectors have come a long way, and although the colors obviously aren’t as good as a TV, the experience outweighs that IMO. Underneath that pull-down screen I have a mounted TV, but I’ve barely used it at all since putting the projector in, even during the day.
