Recently upgraded my Gemini Man blu-ray to 4K and ripped it, however the movie in 4K is shot at 60 fps and the movie stutters and does not play properly. Seems like at ATV app is not displaying the proper frame rate.
Any help here will be much appreciated!
The enhanced player on Apple devices (based on mpv) is not performant enough to handle 4K 60fps content, unfortunately. You may have more success using the old player for this kind of content.
Hey Dave, appreciate the suggestion and hope you’re well man! Unfortunately the video wouldn’t even start playing using the old video player. Turning direct play on and off made no difference either.
Would Plex have to completely move away from the mpv player completely for 4K 60 to work properly?
Hmm, okay. Unusual that it wouldn’t start with the old player. Plex wouldn’t need to move away from mpv, but it would probably need to use metal, rather than open-gl
I was able to reproduce your issue. No short term solution here for these titles
