Is the Plex team aware that 3-years later (March 2020 to March 2023) that the issue of 2160p60 videos severely stuttering on Apple devices (Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad) is still occurring?
I think 2160p60 is becoming a more common format for videos produced as Internet content so it would be appreciated if this could be addressed. Not sure if it helps, but Infuse is able to play these same video files on the same Apple TV.

This is a problem because the mpv engine can not natively handle 4K HDR10 60fps. They will need to explore a new engine or build their own. I don’t know what their plans.
Amazingly over the last week or so Apple devices seem to be getting attention for its ever growing issues. This one seemingly hasn’t been noticed yet.
It may be worth tagging @chrisallen
Oh wait I just did it for you.
Seriously though if you read his recent posts from his profile page, it does seem like he wants to get to the bottom of all the issues that us Apple users face.
You are right! I still still have to work with our product and engineering team to schedule the work to fix these, but that is going to be easier for me to champion once each issue is clear enough to work on (having steps to reproduce internally, samples, etc makes this possible).
As for this issue of HFR 60fps content, This is not something that we currently support (Can not play HFR Movies on Apple TV - #2 by DaveBinM). It is known and has some technical challenges with our current MPV player (as @Achilles touched on). I don’t have any timeline on this being added, but will ask if there is more details to share.
