Unable to play 4K HEVC movie on Tizen OS Plex app - Unknown Error (0) (avplay)

Server Version#: 1.17.0.1709
Player Version#: 4.5.1

Hi guys. I wonder if you could help me.

I have a 4K movie. When I open the Plex in my web browser, I am able to play it without any issue. I have also tried to download Plex on my PS4, and it was working there as well.

But when I launch the Plex app on my Samsung Smart TV, I get a Unknown Error (0) (avplay).

Is this something I can fix, or the TV is simply not able to play this? Which is weird, because if Plex web client is able to play it, why not the Plex SmartTV app?

I have tried to disable Direct Play and Direct Streaming, but result is the same.

In the logs, search for either Solo: A Star Wars Story, or Warcraft.

Many thanks!

Hi, I have the same error (4K file too). Looking at the console, it seems like the API/URL is hitting a character limit and being truncated.

And what can I do with that?

Sorry, wasn’t for you specifically. Just adding some additional information to the post to help the devs locate where this is a problem.

Anybody from Plex who could respond?..

can you enable logging in the app itself then reproduce. It will write to your server logs.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-10-15_19-45-04.zip (2.5 MB)

Logging enabled in the app, logs in the attachment. Many thanks for looking into this

I have tried to play the Warcraft.

still looking into it but I see an error happening while buffering. Are you hard wired or wifi? if you are wired can you try wifi. on many Samsungs the wifi is actually better.

also if you don’t mind transcoding you can try setting the quality to 20mbps

so looking at your the play attempt it just seems like the files you are trying play just have too large of a bit rate for that TV to handle. Reaching ~275Mbps so lowering the quality is all you can really do.

looks like that player is not telling the server that the file is way to high for it that is why it is not transcoding automatically to a lower even though you have DP/DS off. We will have a report for so hopefully we can make it better in the future.

Many thanks for looking into this, BigWheel
