Unable to record any channel or watch live tv on HD Home Run and Plex Server on Fedora

Have been running Plex server on a Fedora box for many years, always update to the latest beta but have never gotten the Live TV or TV recording to work after several debug attempts and reading many of the relevant posts on the forum.

Checked directory permissions, checked that the Silicondust HD Home Run works with other applications (iOS “Channels” app and Home run viewer) .

Tried every channel and the recordings always fail with a transcoder error and live TV attempts fail with a “Playback error - Unable to tune channel”

Plex Version 1.10.1.4561
No previous version has ever worked with the DVR / Live TV functionality.
All other Plex functions work normally including transcoding to Apple TV and Web clients.
During DVR and Live TV attempts directories are created and short/zero length files are recorded to /plex-temp (tmp equivalent) and .grab directory in media directory. Folder user/group and write permissions have been checked OK.

Bump… Anyone at Plex know how to fix this?

Problem resolved. Luckily Plex never responded which made me think of a different way to test

What I did-

Created a fedora VM with latest beta. Set it up and it worked right away as a dvr.

Updated main server to latest beta, still didn’t work. The beta as of 12-13-17.

After proving it must be the main server fedora install, went back to it and deleted the dvr setup. Recreated it, and it worked right away.

Short answer- delete your dvr setup and recreate and it may just solve the problem. Using the latest beta before deleting and recreating the dvr setup probably doesn’t hurt either
