Tiebierius,
Thanks for your quick reply. More info mixed in below…
Install the HDHomerun software on a Windows box and do a channel scan,
chances are the firmware needs updating.
Indeed, the firmware upgraded from 20110414 to 20170930. It didn’t seem
to affect the problem however.
Is this new install or one that you added DVR to?
Both, it was an existing install I had done years ago for the sole
purpose of using a plugin that has since stopped working for multiple
years now. After reading some other forum posts, I did a complete purge
of plex and reinstalled from the current deb, but the results were the
same.
Other issues:
Your database has corruption. If just starting out it may be best to
purge install and start over. If you used a script to install, some
may be out of date.
I tried that from the official deb package with no change. Was there
something in the logs that indicated the fresh install already had a
problem with the database? I can certainly delete everything and try
again if you think it could help; all I’ve done other than trying to do
the dvr setup is point it at some existing movies and music which is
plenty easy to do again.
Your Roku 2 XS is lite on memory and probably won’t work.
It seems to load Plex well enough to play movies from the server, but
I’ve been primarily testing with the web client. I have a current
generation Roku buried on my desk that will be replacing the Roku 2 in
the near future.
You have Plugins installed, they are going away.
After I did the fresh install, there should definitely not have been any
plugins anymore; if there was something in the logs that showed a
plugin, then perhaps I missed something when I deleted the old copy. It
seemed like everything was contained in /var/lib/plexmediaserver, but if
something is stored elsewhere, it may not have been deleted before I
reinstalled. If my fresh install wasn’t as clean as I thought it was,
then that seems like the best place to start.
Don’t use HW transcoding with that CPU, it has a tendency to crash.
HW transcoding isn’t currently enabled, but that’s good to know. I’ll
be sure to leave it off.
Transcoder it pointing to /tmp - needs at least 16GB of free space at
all times for TV
/tmp in this case has 66 GiB free.
Default install uses Plex user:group, easiest to create a plex user on
your storage device with read, write, execute on the TV directory.
This is the library path for TV:
drwxrwxr-x 3 plex video 18 Jun 9 10:15 /srv/nfs/Media/TV
I also double-checked and Plex is indeed running as the plex user.
Is the custom domain only local? In any case Plex does DNS-Rebinding
to plex.direct and your router may be blocking it.
Plex seems to be properly recognizing the difference between the
internal and external IPs on the network. I don’t currently have a port
forward for Plex in my router for incoming traffic, but all outgoing
traffic is working. Other than TV/DVR stuff, playing other media from
any device I’ve tried seems to work fine, so my current assumption is
that the networking bits are ok enough for now.
