I try Not to visit this site often, even though I and many of “MY” users get upset with some of the changes, and updates that put more changes in their face when all they want to see is content that I share with them.
Now I am getting numerous calls on why I (Plex not I as it is perceived to be me doing this) is now showing questionable content to their families home screen.
Adults can watch what they want, but to have updates with no warning about PLayboy and PornHub content being displayed on their “recommendations” home screen is a bit much. How about some warning to Plex paid members next time!

can you please take a screenshot
to be clear we don’t host or offer anything from either of those places or any porn site.
One was sent to my phone (txt msg), I am sending it to my email then will paste it shortly.
We don’t send text messages. We don’t have users phone numbers.
Text from one of my users…
looks like plex is using cookies and history to find “matches” to things you might want to see. I’m only half serious.

Turn off the feature for users you don’t want to have it. Setup the ratings on kids acounts. Don’t blame Plex for your inability to administer your server correctly.

Those are videos by the sites Reelz ,an independent movie site that video is a story about a murder that happened to be of a pornstar. a true crime story not a porn.
Engadget is a tech site, that is a news story about how they created a VPN which is system for a securing network traffic
both of which are partners in the “WebShows” features Neither of those are actual porn or from porn sites, Seems like those videos were popular so they ended up in recommended by the algorithms that do that added them.
Webshows has been out for a long time now. Your friends can disable it and other free Plex online media like Movies&TV, News, Webshows, podcast, completely in their account settings at https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/online-media-sources

Has nothing to do with their server. Each user that has their own account needs to manage those account features on their own account
Correct if they have their own account. They could be home users.
Not my device, but I’m not aware of cookies on Roku devices. lol

True but Home users are not necessarily managed users. a home admin can only change the setting for their managed users. if they invite a regular user account into their home they cannot change that invited users account settings.
Plex considers them home users, but they ONLY have plex because of the videos I share with them aka “My Users”. I’ll admit that I am to the point of telling them all to cancel their plex accounts and just create home users on my server and let me control everything including their passwords/pins but since they are long time users before Plex sold out to online services I have not done that yet.

Understood. They can set ratings but that wouldn’t affect webshows. Depends on where the problem is and how their setup.
Once I saw the screen shot I saw that however it’ sstill content that none of them wanted on their home screens. Since they only have plex accounts to view my content they trust what I share to them… herein lies the problem, giving Plex any sort of control on recommendations.

If you convert them from a Plex account to a home user they would loose watch history.
One of the issues is that I have traveled to their homes and cleared all of the plex recommendations, podcasts, web shows, etc., only to have Plex update the apps and put all that crap back on their home screens
