My intention is to move my Plex Media Server from my desktop and move the PMS to a Zimaboard 2 (Zimabrd from here on) using their own ZimaOS based on CasaOS and linking the media storage devices (there are 3 different NAS).
Problem 1:
I uninstalled the PMS from my desktop after deleting the server from Plex WebOS and removing the server via authorised devices method.
I then installed PMS on the Zimabrd and signed in expecting to see my server waiting to be claimed. Instead all I was able to do was to create a new Plex Server.
Therefore question 1 is how to i recover my Plex Server that was on the desktop, so I can then claim the Plex server on my Zimabrd.
I have watched Youtube videos, read Zimaspace and on Plex.tv forums but am completely lost.
Problem 2
In the past I have used Qnap or Asustor NAS drives which is very different than setting up Plex on a machine that uses Docker.
Does anyone have an easy to follow set up tutorial or instructions to i can set up my PMS using docker via Zima/CasaOS?
The contents of the Plex Data Folder (database, etc.) define your server. You will need to copy the files from the PC to the Zimaboard.
The “Move an Install…” document provides the high level steps. Skip the “Copy Additional Server Settings” section. There is no straightforward way to move the info from the Windows Registry to a preferences.xml file on a Linux system.
The “Migration from another OS to Linux” is written for a “bare metal,” not Docker, installation, but some of the info will still apply.
I cannot assist with Docker specifics (I do not use it). Hopefully others can provide the necessary details.
