I recently decided to move my Plex server off my old laptop and onto a more dedicated machine. I followed a guide and removed my old server from Authorized Devices so I could re-configure the new machine to be setup as the new Plex server.
However, when the new machine tries to enter setup it says that it isn’t authorized. The old server can only be seen from the old machine and it says it “This server is unclaimed and not secure” - but I want to claim it on the new machine, also it doesn’t show the old server in the settings sidebar of any client/device.
I hope anyone can help? To simplify again, I want to move my (old) Plex server to my new Plex server.
Do I read your tags correct that you’ve been attempting to migrate your old server from a Windows machine to a Linux system?
There’s always chuckpa’s guide from the Linux tips & tricks section… keep in mind such a migration will miss certain information from the Windows registry anyway (given Linux has no registry).
I get up to step 12 and when I go to the incognito tab and setup it redirects to a login, so I login - it then goes to client-setup page, I click finish and it takes me to the standard Plex home page with the Live TV and stuff, nothing about server setup and I am still not authorized to access the server.
