This seems to be a commonly talked about error with no concrete, consistent, or officially documented solution(s).
Specs:
Server Platform: Synology NAS
Client Platforms: Web, Mac App, iOS app, Web Player
Server and all downloadable apps are up-to-date
The problem is only with Free On-Demand content. All personal library files and Live TV content play without a problem. Problem exists across all titles. Ads will play prior to the actual content attempting to load, so communication with Plex is active. After ~30 seconds, the error presents with options to Retry or Skip. Retry does not remedy the problem, Skip attempts to play the subsequent episode, and the error repeats.
I have tried restarting the server (also ran an update). I have logged out and back into clients. I’ve followed anecdotal solutions from Reddit and “articles,” including various video quality and audio routing settings. The behavior is consistent and unchanged regardless of settings.
