Unnecessary signal paths? Or?

Hi.
Appreciated if someone network savvy (I’m not…) could help me understand how to optimize my setup.

I’ve unfortunately given up trying to get Plex Media Server working on my Synology NAS which would have been preferable since it’s always on. Instead, I found an “old” desktop in the attic that I dusted off and got working with Plex Media Server for Windows. Unfortunately, this computer cannot live inside the house but in the garage, where I do not have the option of a wired connection, but a capable wireless one (5 GHz & 2.4 GHz)

I have a whole bunch of ripped movies and music stored on the NAS and am now wondering how the streaming content finally gets to my phone if, for example, I watch a movie via the Plex app at home? That said, networking is not my forte but I get the feeling this configuration is not optimal?

Kind Regards,
Richard

Plex server always acts as a data hub. If you play anything in Plex from your own server, all video data are transferred through your Plex server machine.
NAS → Plex server → Plex client
Which means that a Plex server is best connected with a wired connection.
