Update to supported NAS products

Sorry if this isn’t the proper spot to post this, but I was wondering how I can go about getting a NAS added to the compatibility Google Sheet? I see QNAP models were updated in November, but the TVS-h1288X-W1250 which I’m interested in is not listed. When I check the Wikipedia page with the video capabilities around processors, I think I’m in good shape but would like to see something from Plex if possible.

Thanks!

Plex doesn’t add devices to our list until we can test on the device itself.

If I may add to MovieFan.Plex,

We’re waiting for QNAP to provide a unit to test.

After it arrives and is qualified ( QTS and QuTS Hero ), then it will be added appropriately to the NAS Compatibility Guide if both modes pass.

The Intel specs for the processor do imply it will be fine at the hardware level.
My concern is at the OS & Packaging level.

I need to know if packaging changes are required to support it.

Thanks for the information @ChuckPa, I’ve since ordered this device. If there’s any testing Plex would like to perform through me, I could provide access to my new NAS via VPN once it arrives and prior to my migration of data to it, let me know. If there are issues with packaging due to it running QuTS my plan is to simply run Plex externally on a NUC until it gets resolved.

I appreciate the offer but if I’m in the NAS, and I’m doing development work, there’s a good likelihood I’ll be constantly restarting it / reloading the package / etc.

I don’t think you’d take kindly to me trashing the machine before you do. :smiling_imp:

I’ll be fine.

The timing is working out such that I’m actually getting Synology DSM 7 packaging to a stable point (albeit still BETA) that I can work on QNAP if the unit arrives
