How to claim QNAP NAS Server into Plex?

Server Version#: 1.9.6.4429
Player Version#: 8.33 (iOS)
QNAP Version: 4.2.6 (559 Pro II Intel ATOM D525)

Hi

Im an old but very very occasional Plex user, and i used to run Plex using a PC as a Server.
But nowadays i almost never had time to use Plex anymore, so i decided to shutdown the PC.

I also have an old QNAP NAS that i use to backup files and it serves me very well.
So recently i found out that it can run Plex Server.

So i installed Plex Server App to try it out. I know i wont be able to stream videos due to its low cpu perfomance, but it it works fine for photos and music, maybe i’ll get a new NAS.

With that scenario in mind, i looking for help about 3 topics:

1- But as soon as i logged into Plex Server App, its asking to Claim the Server.
I clicked at the button bt nothing happens and i cant find my Server when i open the client app on my iOS device.

2-Also, my Plex Server (1.9.6.4429) is saying that there is a new version and is asking to upgrade.
But it looks like i cant do it, as the newer version requires firmware 4.3+ and im still in 4.2.6

3-Its it possible to import the configuration data i used to have on my PC Server to the QNAP Server?

Can anyone help me with that?

Thanks a lot

Flávio

Unfortuntely, the time has come to retire your QNAP to being only a NAS.

  1. The D525 CPU is not strong enough to run PMS
  2. The D525 CPU is only 32 bit
  3. QNAP instructed us to support QTS 4.3 and above
  4. QNAP declared it EOSL in 2020
