Plex Pass does nothing to improve your transcoding - unless activating HW Transcoding would help - and it probably wonât.
Plex Pass does nothing for Plex Movies and TV - it may not yet be available on the Client/Device youâre using (you havenât said what youâre using to watch) - or you may have it switched off: Settings/Online Media Sources - or you may not have it Pinned to the Sidebar (check: More).
Lastly: Plex Pass doesnât, in any way, ensure you get Extra-Special-Support. You get the same support everyone else does - and youâre getting it now from a Volunteer, just like everyone else.
If anyone that stops by (like me, for instance) canât help, I can call in some âMore Officialâ Support, but itâs likely we can nip this in the bud fairly quickly. (he says without any confidence what-so-everâŠlol)
I was told that Plex Pass would have included Hardware Accelerated Streaming similar to what you would have with a NVIDIA player. Nothing seems to be any different with the hardware accelerated streaming checked.
I thought purchasing Plex Pass would give me access to all of the Plex provided Movies and TV shows. Currently I only have access to 50 plex provided movies when I am logged in via my Plex App in the Samsung TV.
If I login to Plex through my laptop Chrome I get access to all of the 1000+ shows that Plex Pass has access to.
Iâm wondering if Plex Pass is working when I login through my Samsung TV if I donât have access to all of the TV Shows and Movies provided by PLEX. If that is the case that would mean the Hardware Accelerated Streaming is not functioning when I am logged in via the Samsung TV either?
Again:
Plex Pass has NOTHING to do with Plex Movies and TV Shows.
Hardware Acceleration has nothing to do with Plex Movies and TV Shows.
The Samsung Plex App may be insufficient, at this time (or forever). I really donât know.
âWhat you Heardâ and âThe Truthâ may be two totally different things:
Hereâs The Truth:
I change my mind. The support for Plex has been extremely HELPFUL and QUICK - via Volunteers and Moderators. Thank you - was not expecting that.
Would you guys say the NVIDIA Shield Pro is a better platform to run Plex and would the NVIDIA Shield be able to show all of Plex offerings?
One other question. Right now I have a NAS device storing all of my media and running the plex server. If I were to setup the NVIDIA Shield Pro - would it be best to keep media on the NAS and setup the plex server on the NVIDIA Shield? Or would the plex server stay on the NAS and I just use NVIDIA to load up the Plex application on the Samsung?
As soon as you mention âShieldâ, you canât swing a Thomsonâs Gazzelle in here without hitting someone using it - so things are looking up. For you.
A Shield will (probably) never darken my door, but I do have Plexâs Flagship UNO App on my Rokus - and am quite pleased. Thatâs pretty much where my glowing recommendations end 'cause I also have a FireTV Plex App that is the most disappointing thing ever created (much like your Samsung App - I have to imagine).
If our Gazzelle doesnât hit someone - @Xhaka <âthat will.
(I think Yoho has the only Shield Museum in Chester, UK)
No museum lol.
Though the older Shield did gather a lot of dust.
Mostly yes. It seriously lacks one thing if itâs something imporatant to you.
Actor thumbnails for your shows and movies. That said they do come up in search.
On the subject of searchâŠVoice search is extremely reliable.
But can you clarify âa better platform to run Plexâ
Are you referring here to running the server on the ShieldâŠor just use it as a client?
