Upgraded hardware and plex can't transcode anything

Server Version#:1.28.2.6151
Player Version#:4.90.1

Upgraded motherboard/cpu/ram from Asus/i7-7700k/24gb to Asus/11700k/32gb
Same install of Windows, nothing besides the hardware changed.

Getting hardware is not powerful enough on anything that needs video transcoded.
I also have a Quadro P2000 in the system so its definitely not an under powered system.
Looked at transcoder logs and didn’t see anything obvious.

Tested QSV/NVENC in handbrake just to verify my hardware is detected and drivers are good.
I uninstalled and reinstalled to a 4 versions back, it made no difference so I upgraded back to latest version.

Any direction would help, I’m trying not to reinstall Windows unless I have to.
FYI, tested on two different Windows PC, Macbook Pro, RokuTV and a Samsung android device

Did you turn off the option to transcode?

I didn’t, all my settings did not change from before the swap.

As a test, i turned on/off transcoding, hardware encoding, etc.
Obviously direct playing works fine and transcoding of audio works fine, its only when it transcodes the video that it craps out.

I feel like it may be ignoring that setting.
Like right now w/ that setting unchecked, I get “This server is not powerful enough to convert video.” when I playback in Chrome.

Please reproduce and get me your server logs.

Had an instance of “not enough cpu for conversion of this item” around ~6:59 pm CST reported from my cousin trying to use it.

Your logs only go up to 14:55 GMT. Do you maybe have the time set wrong on you server? I don’t know if that makes a difference for this but it does make looking at the logs difficult.

I do see that error in your log. Something is preventing the transcoder from working. Can you enter this URL into your browser. Save the results as a txt file and PM that txt file to me.

http://your.local.plex.IP:32400/:/prefs?X-Plex-Token=

Add your Plex token at the end. You can get that from the end of the URL when getting the xml info for any video.

that’s weird, my Windows 10 is set to CST.

Prefs.xml

[mod edit] I got the file so I removed it from here.

btw, i did turn Disable video stream transcoding on/off to test

Your preferences show that you have that setting enabled so transcoding is turned off. Are you hitting save when you toggle that setting?

correct, I turned it “on” to see if there was a different error.

When my cousin tried it, it was “off” thats why I mentioned messed w/ the setting.

I need to see the logs with it “off”.
