Upgrading to 1.15.x on a FreeNAS jail plugin that's been updated using PMS_updater

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: -
OS: 11.1-STABLE FreeBSD 11.1-STABLE

Back when, my plex was installed as a plugin inside a jail on FreeNAS.

Currently my “installed plugins” shows me on version 1.10.1.4602 with the most recent plugin version available: 1.12.2.4929

I am however on 1.14.1.5488

Since the initial plugin install, I’ve been keeping things updated using PMS_Updater.

Then as we know, 1.15.x came around and shook things up.

I’ve tried the LD path updates, and everything suggested but I cannot get my Plex to start.

Given that PMS_Updater isn’t preferred, what’s my best option to get off that tool and to ports/pkg manager?

Can I simply install from ports on top of my current install or are there some steps to get there from where I’m at?

Thank you all very much.

I can’t really say with 100% certain since a custom plugin was used and things my be different for you, however, if you post your “rc.conf” (only the line relevant to plex) and ls -l /usr/share/ | grep plex I might be able to at least of better advice!

In any case provided you don’t delete the “plexdata” dir (usually kept in /usr/local/plexdata (or plexdata-plexpass) it should always be possible to install the pkg/port and point it to that (you could also create a new jail, install with pkgng and then copy over that dir; then start plexmediaserver.

I’m curious why the change in the rc.d file didn’t work though most users seem to be running happy with that change and keep on using the PMS_Updater script!

In the end we created a new jail and installed from ports.

Thanks =)
