Upload photos and videos from ios

Hi everyone, I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max but is it possible to upload photo and video content to Plex directly via the Plex app? so you can see the contents immediately on a TV at home.

You used to be able to but the feature was removed some time ago.

You can always upload photos etc using other tools and Plex will then detect the files once it has done a scheduled scan of the media folders.

It was a nice feature to have, I don’t understand why it was disabled :frowning:

Isn’t there even a way without uploading photos and videos to plex?
But to still be able to see videos and photos directly on TV via plex?
or is everything really disabled?

It is only remote upload that has been stopped

You can still add photos and videos to local folders and use Plex to watch them

I just can’t figure out how to do it

I go to this device then click on Camera Roll
there are two categories Photos and Videos and there are the contents that I have on the iPhone
How can I see those contents on my TV too?

You need to either directly add them to your server folders (connect the iOS device to the server and use third party tools to copy them over) and use Plex to view them or cast them direct to your TV (Airplay) and don’t use Plex.

I prefer to upload them to iCloud (or send them to the iOS Files app) which syncs them to my iCloud for Windows folder and Plex is told to monitor that folder for new photos.

Once a month I hook our iOS devices up to iTunes on our server and it syncs videos and photos for selected albums. Purely for backup and redundancy options.

All our family videos and photos are done like this and are viewable via all our Plex clients.

I love Plex for this purpose - sharing family videos and photos almost real time locally and OS. I prefer it to FB/Google/Dropbox etc.
