I bought a DVD from Region 2. It has VOB files that have to be converted. I used WinX DVD Ripper Platinum to convert to MP4 format. I have done this in the past with no issues. I place the file in the appropriate folder and Plex doesn’t recognize it and add it to the Library. Why? Is it the naming convention/format?
If this is not placed in the appropriate category, please advise.
I am guessing you did a rescan of your library already???
Yes, I do it manually everytime I add something. I also toggled it to automatically scan.
If it won’t match to the correct show it’s usually a naming issue
What show is it? Did you find it on tvdb or tmdb?
On your file system what is the exact naming you have?
DVD’s can be a little tricky sometimes because they don’t always conform to the naming the online sources have
It may be individual episodes picked from a show that span multiple seasons of that show for instance
The DVD is called Nigel Slater’s Simple Suppers Series 2. There are about 7 episodes on it. Below is the result of the first rip. I am thinking I need to rip the below result again and maybe it will break it out into episodes.

You will probably not be able to follow the naming the DVD has or it’s exact order. You will have to look
I see the show but there is no “DVD order” on TVDB which shows 17 episodes for Season 2

TMDB shows 8 episodes for season 2
You will have to look up both orders and see if you can find the episode by name and give it the corresponding s01e01 marker so it matches the source you pick
You can then change the show order depending on whether you pick the TVDB or TMDB order
Click the pencil on the show poster → go to advanced
It appears to me the closest you’ll get is naming it by the TVDB and changing the show order as i showed above.

These are the episode names to pick from depending on what you actually have. I’m guess it’s s02e09 through s02e17

This has been resolved. I ripped it again and choose the appropriate files to convert, which equaled the number of episodes on the DVD. Then I had to fix the naming convention of the files. IMDB was a great help. They now work on my PLex Library. In fact, when I uploaded them to Plex, it was like Plex couldn’t load them in fast enough.

Another tip: don’t refer primarily to IMDb when researching tv shows or other “episodic content”.
For Plex, TheTVDB.com and TheMovieDb.org are more helpful.
