USB IR receiver not working after reboot

I am using an MCE IR Receiver and remote which works perfectly with Rasplex.  But after a reboot I must disconnect and reconnect the receiver for the remote to work again.  I have tried different receivers and all act the same.  Any suggestions?  I really want to use Rasplex in my HT and ditch my pc.  But this behavior is a deal breaker.

I assume you're talking about a USB 'dongle' IR receiver.

If so, then I guess there may be some problem with how the USB device drivers detect that device,

which might be cured in some future RasPlex release based on a newer firmware.

I on the other hand have used several different USB keyboards with my RPi,

using several different USB 'dongle RF receivers, without any problems at all.

But perhaps keyboard drivers are initialized differently from remote control drivers...

You might try some miniature keyboards instead of the TV-type remote controllers.

I have one a lot smaller than the average console gamepad (and flat of course).

PHT which RasPlex is based on has a lot of keyboard-based shortcut commands,

so using such a keyboard gives you better access to a lot of its functionality.

And using an RF receiver also eliminates problems of 'aiming', as it even works through solid matter.

Yes it is a USB ir receiver. USB keyboards work fine. No issues. I have an rf mini keyboard. The ir is valuable because it is tied into an integrated remote that controls everything on my system. And it is rf with ir outputs so no aiming. We all have our preferences.

Here's what I use, works great with my Philips Pronto Remote, delivery took 3 days, but well worth the wait, took a couple of minutes to install.
