Hi. I have the exact same remote. It used to work with my RPi 1, but now it does nothing with my RPi 2. It must be something to do with Rasplex 0.5.1, as it works perfectly with Raspbian install on my RPi 2.
I have the exact same remote / IR combo and I can not get it to work on 0.5.1 on RPi2. I did post the issue in the 0.5.1 issues / feedback thread, but no ones been able to provide any suggestions.
Have you tried the fix I posted here:

Hey Nibb31,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did not try it as I did not do an upgrade, clean install of 0.5.1 on the RPi2. Not sure on die-andis's case though.
Good Morning,
it doesn´t help. My config.txt already contains "dtoverlay=lirc-rpi".
Surprised no one else is hitting this issue.
Wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction via SSH to troubleshoot if the usb Infared device is being detected?
Been poking around SSH with not much luck.
The dmesg output shows its detecting the usb IR device I think.

However when I run commands like "mode2 -d /dev/lirc0" or "irw /var/run/lirc/lircd-lirc0" and I hit a few buttons I see no inputs.
I did notice that under /etc/lirc/ there is no lirc.conf, there is lirc.conf.rpi and lirc.conf.xbox, so not sure if either config files are even being used.
The thing to note here is this USB IR detects as a keyboard HID device rather than an actual remote, so I am thinking something has changed that is causing this too break.
I'm glad it's not just me. I'm a brand new Raspberry Pi2 and Rasplex user (never used either before) so I'm still stuck in that mode where I don't know if something is truly broke or if it's me.
The only IR I've been able to make work is a dedicated wireless keyboard and it's own WiFi USB dongle. Since they are a matched pair, I don't believe it uses any of that lirc stuff. However, I did order an MCE remote and Flirc. I don't want to start tackling editing of xml files and the like until I confirm we have a base to start from!
Any luck robertsig?
I've given up for now, just sticking with Pi1.
You need to edit the name of one of the lirc.conf.xxx files to lirc.conf. whichever one is right for your device.

I do have an MCE remote working now with an IR receiver attached to the appropriate 3 leads on the GPIO. However, I can't figure out how to change or edit any keys. All the available instructions don't seem to work (I have other threads open for that).

Are you sure? My MCE remote works fine "out of the box", so I assume it is using the MCE commands listed in the lircd.conf.rpi file. Now, where in Linux it calls that file to work, I have no idea.
Having the same problem with this unit. Works fine on the Pi 1 and my PC. It doesn't work in Kodi (OSMC) either on the Pi 2.
Getting really hacked off with this now. I got the flipping thing to make a Plex client in the lounge for the main TV. It does this OK, but WHY is it so difficult to get a remote control to work on it? Nobody seems to have too much idea of what controls work on it - surely someone must have a remote control working on it by now????

Try searching the forum, thousands of people have remotes working using CEC, FLIRC, Bluetooth, RemotePi Board, USB IR.
The cheap remotes are the problem not Rasplex.
Regards
Can appreciate what you are saying Ned, but on the flip side that cheap remote worked out of the box in Rpi1, so it is very confusing that it doesnt work out of the box in RPi2.
I've actually spent a significant amount of time looking into why this doesn't work, now I am not strong in linux (especially not openelec) so have not had much luck.
Happy to work with anyone out there whom has had a go as well, possibly we can bash our heads together and get it working.
Some "MCE REMOTES" are "MCE Vista REMOTES" (Hama, etc) They are not the same thing.
Any luck? I also don't have it working on the RPi 2 but works OK on RPi 1.
Thanks
I thought I would try it again with the RPi 2 and it worked! What is different this time? I tried it on my TV that supports HDMI-CEC and it works! I also tried on on my computer monitor and it also works. It is just not working on my older LCD TV that does not support HDMI-CEC. That's all I have for now :)

Interesting. My TV does support HDMI-CEC and it comes up in the Rasplex as detected ,but I'd never tried configuring it or anything as the USB MCE Remote just worked. Wonder if it's interfering with the USB MCE remote.
Rasplex has my Panasonic TV in the bake-in lirc profiles AND it supports HDMI-CEC, so I was seeing all kinds of weird stuff when I added an IR receiver. Some of my experience is outlined in threads in this forum.
Things would be happening to Rasplex in the background while I used my TV remote on other inputs. It was freaking me out. I wanted to use an MCE remote for Rasplex, so I had to disable HDMI-CEC as well as change the default Lirc profile (to remove my Panasonic commands) to make it stop.
