RasPlex 0.3.1
Clean Install
I'm using a generic IR remote control over the USB; e.g., http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Infrared-Mini-Wireless-Remote-Controller-TMPP-for-PC-Computer-Desktop-Laptop-/161134871214?pt=US_Remote_Controls_Pointers&hash=item25846302ae
I have used this USB remote with 100% success rate with OpenElec; however, I do love RaspPlex except for the fact that the remote control (and lack thereof) is driving me nuts.
After a clean install, whether the remote works or not is random. When it works, it will work perfectly until a reboot. When it does not work, it will not work ever until a reboot. After a reboot, it is hit or miss again, and often miss. I actually have three pi's and all three behave similarly. And a friend has a similar problem with the same remote. It seems astonishing that this is not a reported problem, but I've not seen anything similar on the forums.
I can disable CEC or not w/o apparent effect immediately or after reboot. And I've tried other configuration settings to no avail. Changing the USB port sometimes makes a difference. Sometimes connecting a USB keyboard seems to enable the remote. But I have found nothing which ensures the remote will work after powering up.
I suspect a race condition with the USB devices because varying the ports and/or devices sometimes makes a difference, but any configuration that works for one reboot may not work for the next. Cause and effect are very elusive.
I'm attaching the logs after a clean install with both a USB key board and the USB IR remote attached. In this case, the IR remote did not work, although the keyboard did. On other clean installs, as I said, the IR remote does work sometimes and other time it does not.
Any advice for a configuration setting / workaround / repair would be most appreciated. A bug fix even more so.
Thanks.
