MB has audio fingerprinting and extensive metadata, including album art links, translated/transliterated song listings, and catalog information. It has public API access, and if the traffic on their servers exceeds the maximums, their database is largely public and can be mirrored.
Yes please. Musicbrainz is where I manage and tag my music collection. This would be wonderful.

MP3Tag will tag mp4 files (discogs and musicbrains), But is still not a "real" solution for plex music videos
+1. I found MusicBrainz is much better than Last.fm and use it to correct my files so that, in turn, last.fm works.
