Hey there. I am trying to build a huge music library with my own covers. Here is my music folder tree view:
/Music
/Artist 1
/Artist 1.jpg
/Album 1
/Album 1.jpg
/1 - Track name.ext
/2 - Track name.ext
/Album 2
/Album 2.jpg
/1 - Track name.ext
/Artist 2
/Artist 2.jpg
/Album 1
/Album 1.jpg
/1 - Track name.ext
When it comes to get the album cover, it seems that plex uses my own images but it does not do the same with artists covers and some are blank. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks!!
In addition, is there a way to include some file or metadata for the artist so if Plex doesn’t know anything about the artist, I can fill it’s description, genre and some more (not via plex client)?
There are a number of applications that enable you to embed metadata in your media files. MP3Tag if you’re on Windows, Puddletag for Linux, are probably two of the best. Musicbrainz Picard can also be good, but it’s a little more difficult to learn. Plex supports a minimal set of embedded tags (see below), just enough to be pretty good at identifying your media (it’s not great for classical music yet). You can’t embed descriptions, but if it’s properly tagged and Plex is able to find a match in online sources, it will draw descriptions from them.
