I made a mistake when messing around with the metadata of my music collection outside of Plex. My entire collection is now one genre of music. I am hoping to be able to have Plex automatically find the correct genre and override the metadata associated with the actual file. Is there a way to do this?
It should be as simple as unchecking the ‘Use embedded tags’ option when editing your Library.
After doing that, you’ll need to refresh the metadata for the library. However, because Plex’s Refresh has never been reliable, you will probably have to do the Plex Dance. Keep in mind that if you have created music playlists, the Plex Dance will result in most or all of the playlists being emptied.
