Use Remote Buddy with OpenPHT?

Did someone find a way how to use Remote Buddy with OpenPHT? On my system Remote Buddy always starts up PHT and I don’t know how to configure it properly that it runs OpenPHT instead of PHT.

It’s possible, but you’ll need to did a bit of customization - you can’t use the built-in Plex commands in remote buddy.

First, disable the “Allow start of PHT using the remote” setting in the old PHT. Then, in remote buddy, you’ll need to add OpenPHT as a new behavior using the Behavior Factory. After doing so, you’ll see it back in the Remote Buddy “Mapping” section. Here, you’ll need to assign it keyboard shortcuts for the various commands you want it to issue - the built-in Plex commands are linked to the official Plex build, not OpenPHT.

Also, to be able to launch OpenPHT from the remote, you’ll need to create a new action in the Action Factory in remote buddy which launches OpenPHT (create an applescript action with the script “tell application OpenPHT to activate”), and set this as a global command in the Remote Buddy “Mapping” section

Thank you a lot. But it’s still a very comlicated way. I hope OpenPHT will be added officially to Remote Buddy in the future (I know this doesn’t depend on the OpenPHT developers).

Hello @sonicblue83, I’d got the same problem as you, and this is how I solved it easily :

  1. Open Remote Buddy Behaviour Construction Kit
  2. Drag and Drop OpenPHT in the left column
  3. For each Apple remote entries, with drop down menu, click and choose Plex similar action
  4. Click on the wheel on the left back and "Compile, testdrive and install permanently scripted behaviour
  5. You can return to Remote Buddy preferences and add OpenPHT to your Menu
(sorry for my bad english from France
Here are some screen captures :

Thank you a lot. This reall helped me!

FYI RemoteBuddy now has been updated by the developer to support OpenPHT natively so hopefully the workarounds aren’t required anymore.
