I’m trying to find a decent replacement for Plex Home Theatre I’ve been running for years (It doesn’t seem to want to connect anymore). Not a fan of the new Plex apps and miss the skins so downloaded Open PHT.
Seems to install on my MAC no problem, however the Mac remote doesn’t work at all. am I missing something? or is this not supported?
Unfortunately OpenPHT is essentially a dead project these days. It is an open source project and the primary maintainer passed away several years ago and it hasn’t really seen any development since.
The immediate successor to PHT is Plex Media Player (PMP) and the upcoming successor to PMP is Plex HTPC which is currently in forum preview. These are likely a better choice.
If you absolutely must run a Kodi-based application (PHT/OpenPHT are based on a really old Kodi), then maybe you should look into running a current version of Kodi which is vastly newer than what you’d find in OpenPHT and then use the third-party application PlexKodiConnect.
The biggest issue you have run into is that Apple crippled the remote support in High Sierra (I think) and the workarounds for that was never merged into OpenPHT at the time. I tried to patch it myself using the build instructions on the OpenPHT Github GitHub - RasPlex/OpenPHT: OpenPHT is a community driven fork of Plex Home Theater
But I wasn’t successful. Mainly due to not really knowing what I was doing and partly because dependancies of old versions of Xcode.
