You were never able to assign nicknames to other users – just for your own account.
There’s a feature suggestion asking for an option to assign nicknames how you’d like to see them showing up in your setup/account (e.g. they see themselves as “Pauline” and “Dave”, you see them as “Mom” and “Dad”…).
