I’ve tried setting up user accounts but the current system of inputting PINS shows everybody in the room what your PIN is. Is there another way of using restricted accounts which doesn’t leak your PIN?
I’m using the AppleTV app.
Doesnt it Asterisk out the numbers? Are you saying it shows because you use the keyboard?
PIN entry behavior is different depending on your hardware. I have two purpose built media centers both running the embedded version of PMP.
The media center built on the Intel NUC with builtin infrared and a Logitech Harmony remote allows me to enter the PIN via the number keys on the remote so the PIN is not visible to others watching at the time.
The media center built on custom PC with with the Microsoft Media Center remote sensor and Logitech Harmony remote does not allow PIN entry by the number keys ion the remote. I then have to use the onscreen keypad and of course the PIN is visible to anyone else watching.

If you have a keyboard it’s not that big of a deal. When you use a Plex integrated situation like Plex on Roku or on a TV, it shows the numpad and you can see which numbers are entered pretty easily. It would be really cool if we could authorize a login from the plex app on our mobile devices using touch ID/standard biometrics and then just click allow/deny.
HI. It does put an asterisk in the box, but the you still have to navigate to each number first and everyone can see it. If my PIN is 1234… everyone in the room can see that i go to 1 first, then 2, then 3 and finally 4.
Like the original poster, i wish this was more like Directv where i can press 1234 on my remote and it fills in the 4 numbers on the screen with astericks. That way, NO ONE can see the code.
I use a ROKU to access plex on our living room TV. I use a Harmony 700 remote to control everything including the ROKU. I’ve used many other remotes over the years, and that’s never been a factor. Plex has always made me go to the number to select it.
Thanks.
I hit this problem - how do I link the numbers on the Harmony remote to plex/roku numbers?
I too would like to have a solution for this. When my child was 5 it wasn’t a big deal because he didn’t care. Now that he’s almost 10 he’s going to want to try to log in as me.
