User-Specified Folder/File pattern selection

There have been a great many discussions in these forums about the requirement for media files to follow a specific folder/filename structure. I was inspired by the tagging app Puddletag’s pattern editor, where the user can describe the pattern of elements in the filenames, allowing Puddletag to populate embedded tags with information from the filename, or to rename files using the embedded tags.

The reason Plex requires a specific filenaming pattern is so that the scanner can identify and match the media. It occurs to me that a similar feature could be used to allow a Plex Administrator to describe the pattern used in their library’s folder.

I mocked up the following. The ‘Add folders’ page seems to be the logical place for it:

Since the newest Plex Music scanner is able to accurately parse embedded tags and organize music from a flat folder, if a Music library has the ‘Prefer local metadata’ option enabled, an additional pattern could appear in this dropdown:

ArtistName - AlbumTitle - TrackNumber - TrackTitle
