UseRealRTMP - ETA?

Hello,

Am I correct to think that there are channels that don't work due to missing "RealRTMP" feature in PlexConnect?  If so, is there an approximate ETA?

Thank you,

Pierre

PlexConnect should be able to handle it. PMS needs a framework update to recognize PlexConnect as a valid client...

I see... I guess the PMS group is aware of this?  If it's a framework update, I'm hoping it doesn't take too many weeks.  I might as well go ask in the PMS forum.

Thank you for the clarification.

Pierre

I was told that the PMS framework update was imminent a couple of times over the past month and a half but it has yet to appear. We just have to wait I guess.

Good News. Looks like the PMS framework.bundle update has finally been pushed out. PMS now recognizes the Plex-version number for Plexconnect and so can now recognize/play RTMP based plugins like the newly updated BBC iPlayer, CBS, Navi-X and numerous others. Now if these plugins do not work for you it is not because of the RTMP issue

Ace:)

Thanks !

I'm very happy to read about this news... but from where did you read about it?

Thanx,
Pierre

I didn’t read about it. I just looked in the PMS Plugin folder this morning while having coffee and saw that framework.bundle had a new, recent creation date. So I then went and tested Plexconnect and, voila. I had been expecting it to happen soon so I have been checking off and on.

Where's that PMS Plugin folder, and if it's on your PMS server .. how did it get updated?

I'm still quite new around.

Thanx,

Pierre

The plugin folder is in different places depending on your operating system. Plex Media Server has the ability to automatically update certain files including plugins from the directory and system files like the framework.bundle.

That might help you find the folder.

institute11,
What version did you get from plugin folder?  I noticed last night via Plex Media Server download page had Version 0.9.8.4.125 available. I tried doing a Check Version of MS via my MacMini Server and it showed my PMS v9.7.28.33 was still the latest, so I downloaded and installed new v9.8.4 (I thought there was an issue in CheckVersion updates as this is a huge jump to what I've been running).

I haven't had a chance to go through all my RealRTMP Channels; however two that I have tried I no longer immediately get "Trailers is unavailable. Try again later." message, but trying to play content gives an error (Food Network, 30 Minute Meals, & 2 other sub folders. I can't remember the other Channel I tried or the actual error given).

I look forward to all your testing, and your Google data-sheet being updated on the"More channels working!" thread before I give all my RealRTMP channels a full test.  If I have any issues I'll pul Plex logs for our friendly developers who have worked so hard on this project.

Thanks for the news,

I do know where the folder is, and I don't see any files in the Framework.bundle that has been updated ever since my first installation 1+ month ago.  Perhaps on Linux (Synology) it's not updating automatically.  What platform are you on?

OSX

Hello,

I JUST got Plexconnect (and PMS) installed for the first time. It was quite a challenge for me, but nevertheless, I got it working. But I'm not able to get SOME of the RTMP channels working. I can get A&E & History channel to work, but NOT CBS & Food Network.

Is there anything else I need to do to get this working? I tried searching for this info in the forum but didn't find much.

This has been frustrating for me. If I could get someone's help, I would very much appreciate it :(

Thank you.

I doubt that it is an RTMP issue at this point as they work with Plexconnect and have for a while. You are probably having issues with particular channels instead and so I would ask your questions in the appropriate Channel thread in the Plex Channel forum.

Thanks for responding. I went to this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/96063-support-find-my-plug-in-here-for-support/

They seem to not list the 2 channels I'm having a problem with: CBS & Food Network. These are very popular channels. Do you know the reason?

Where are you located? Both of these require you be in the US (I assume you are using the American Food Network) or use a VPN or DNS service to spoof that you are. CBS and the Food Network work for me by the way, I just tested.

Again, if this post doesn’t answer your question I recommend going to the thread in the Plex Channel forum that addresses the particular channel you are having trouble with.

I'm in the U.S. (East coast). This works for you on Apple TV 3 via PlexConnect?

I would like to follow your suggestion to ask this question in the Plex Channel for CBS or Food Network, but these 2 don't seem to be listed on "The List". Unless I need to go to a PlexConnect forum??

Please point me the right way, and I'll be on my way :)

Do they work on other clients/devices? iPhone, iPad, Plex/Web?
