I just started playing around with Clean Media Player (cmp) on my PC (trial version) and a little confused with their instructions about the modified file that’s created. In brief cmp allows you to create a modified version of a video file that mutes ‘bad’ language and skip ‘offensive’ scenes. Does anyone know if you can play this modified file thru Plex or it has to be played thru the PC w/ cmp installed to realize the benefits. Looking for this info to decide which PC to install on. Thanks.
I‘m not familiar with this software.
The answer to your question will depend on „how“ they mute those parts. If they actually modify the file, the muting should also apply when streaming through Plex.
If they store the information separately (e.g. some file with timestamps of sections to be muted, Plex has no means to deal with that.
The Video Tutorial on their website mentions using their player and enabling Plex’s DLNA server.
As @tom80H mentions, whether or not you can use Plex’s clients depends on how the product mutes the audio and subtitles.
Thanks, Tom80H and FordGuy61. Was hoping someone was already using CMP with Plex and could share their experience. Not a biggie - the licenses costs $14.95 but tied to a specific PC for life so I may have to pay for 2 licenses.
