Using iTunes and Plex for TV shows

Got Movies and Music sorted, just cant get TV shows included.

I know the issue just need help to fix. I have files organised in iTunes in “TV Shows” folder, with “program name” and “season” folders. iTunes does not (always) put episode numbers in file names - some do have and have been accepted. I want to keep both iTunes and Plex, and iTunes is master, and Plex can read data from files.

when I add in episode numbers to files Plex picks them up, when I re-add to iTunes it strips out the episode number! not sure why iTunes did keep episode numbers in some files and not others, probably a version of iTunes thing…

All the correct info is in the metadata in files, i just need Plex to trust everything in the TV Shows folder is a TV show and read its Metadata…

Not got any programming experience but willing to try!

I am sorry but i don’t get why not creating a plex library pointing to the folders the series are in, surely the ep number would be in the filename then???
