Just came across this video today and wondering if Plex is used by many just for the channels. It sucks if people are now advertising this and making it more popular just for streaming online channels. If so, hopefully Plex cuts down by disabling accounts w/o any shared or personal servers added.
Aside from that I just realized I totally neglect channels functionality, I don’t see any particular reason why Plex should ‘disable’ or otherwise restrict any users that make use of their local Plex Media Server instance as they see fit. Channels are run locally, so there’s no stretch for Plex.

I don’t see what’s wrong with that. Why do you find it offensive (or even your business) that someone uses Plex only for Channels?
The tutorial itself is OK, but contrary to what he says the Plex Android app isn’t free.
And using Plex only for the channels is a bit, erm, weird.
It’s like buying a high-end excavator because it has such a nice yellow color.
Channels will always depend on their maintainers and are never as reliable as your own media files.

The sad thing is, people pin the malfunction to Plex, even though it was caused by the website where the channel scrapes its content from. (which e.g. may simply have changed its design)
Forgot about this post and missed the e-mails. When you have videos like this out and someone using “torrent” it reflects very bad- I’ll stop there. The Kodi name has been damn near ruined because of people selling Kodi-installed devices. I have Kodi installed on my own FireTV for ‘multiple’ purposes but I understand the difference between Kodi and a Kodi-addon.
Don’t need a bunch of videos/posts out saying install Plex for free streaming, etc. which isn’t true. You may be able to use some Plex channels for free streaming but not Plex.
What’s wrong with torrent? It’s a valid way for me to get software that would otherwise download slow via http or ftp.
