After installing the latest Plex update this weekend I have found that VC1 Blu rays now work on my Samsung Tv without it forcing a transcode that my synology DS218 cannot do.
Has anything changed this weekend?
Naturally it wont work in HD audio mode but i am well aware of Samsung being difficult with HD codecs.
Still its a a start . I dont have to re render half my Blu ray collection.
It sounds more like you are not using the native Samsung app, but have a nVidia Shield as your player.
nVidia had a bug in the Shield Experience 8.0, which failed to report its support for the VC-1 codec to installed apps. They have now distributed a fix.
No I am not . I noticed that you have moved my post to android too. Could you please move it back to where it was as I would like to see if other Samsung users have a similar experience.
My post is regarding that in the past the plex app on samsung TV’s has not played VC1 films.
Now it does. hence my post.
Still no HD audio but we all know the DTS issue etc…
