Version 1.13.5.5291 file: plays movies on all devices, TV on roku only but not on other devices

After last week’s update to 1.13.5.5291, Plex is erratic.

from my PC which is running the server:

  • TV shows - Playback Error Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up.
  • Movies - play OK

from my Roku:

  • TV shows - play OK
  • Movies - play OK

From my Android phone:

  • TV shows - Error Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install.
  • Movies - play OK

My PC, running the server, will play movies, but not TV series. Same with my Android devices. Yet my Roku will play both.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Plex 2 times. I have rescanned/rebuilt my media library 4 times.

PC: Windows 10.0.17134 build 17134
Plex 1.13.5.5291
NAS: Synology DS415play version DSM 6.2-23739 with all media files

It all worked prior to the 1.13.5.5291 update, but now…
