Version 1.23.2.4625 Broken on TrueNAS/FreeBSD

Server Version#: TrueNAS 12.0 U4, Jail version FreeBSD 12.2 U8
Player Version#: 1.23.2.4625

Upgrading to 1.23.2.4625 causes me to irrevocably lose access to server settings (none of the generic advice to recover from this works).

I also attempted a fresh install of 1.23.2.4625 in another jail. This attempt fails to start with a generic error. So I don’t believe my configuration is the problem.

Both the upgrade attempt and the fresh install were done via “pkg”.

Based on this post I just found, I strongly suspect this issue first surfaced in the 1.23.0.4459 beta and was never resolved. The workaround described in there should really be part of the package. In the meantime, I’ve already downgraded to 1.22.3.4392.

Yes. It’s known and the pkg maintainer is in communication with Plex.

As described in that thread, the fix at-the-moment is to add LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the environment. I’m not sure if that’s going to be added back to the pkg, or if Plex is going to be updated to not require it.

Instructions for adding it to the rc script:
Server settings unavailable - #93 by elKuno

Alternative instructions for adding it to /etc/rc.conf:
Server settings unavailable - #90 by feld
