I read all replies for this threat, and i see that you are complaining and request that authentication-login thing for plex server clients (because all of them have same authentication logic ios, andorid , pc, xbox one etc)
Please don't waste your time in this thread saying "xbox one app disappointed" , please open your thread in general requests part of plex forums, not in here.. Please don't waste times of followers xbox one app section to read wrongly placed thread that you've started.. I suggest you to move it to general discussions, i hope you would get better audience that you want.
Agreed. *sips tea* Well, back to waiting for the xbox 360 app.
But I do want the Plex team to be aware that there is someone out there who is very disappointed in what they created.
Do you really think you are the only person disappointed with the app? I can understand your frustrations but take a glance at how others on this board have handled their distaste—you are the only person is who seemingly going out of their way to complain about the app because it hasn't been custom-tailored to your liking. Not only have you ignored the suggestions made to you by others about your situation/setup, and about your approach regarding the entire matter, but you continue to justify your behavior by illogically referring to yourself as a nice guy. Not only does this retort scream "excuse" but it makes your entire tone nauseating.
Yes, I am very aware this is beta. That's why I wanted to speak up about this.I believe this could be something great.
It's just not there yet.
For someone who claims to have worked as a software engineer for over 13 years, this mindset is a bit troubling. You of all people should know what kind of work and general logistics that go into an app like this, especially one that is in a beta state. Your criticism could have been acceptable had you chosen a different approach to it; like most people who have responded to your comments, I saw your post a big complaint because you did not get what you expected. Then to add even more grievance, you justify this by claiming you simply want the developers to take note. These guys know what kind of features are being requested and what is generally expected from this particular app, so they don't need you to belittle their work with veiled criticism. Let me remind you once again: This is a beta version.
As others have pointed out, if you want to get your point across, or simply bring attention to something for the developers, have a little more tact. And when other members offer suggestions or help, be grateful that anyone here actually responds to you. Or keep digging your own grave.

Digging my own grave? Dude, this is a message board about an app.
I'll be fine. People disagree with me. I am cool with that.
I spoke my displeasure for the app. I hope the Plex team heard me.
If not, o well. That's life. But saying I am digging my own grave.
As in I have to have friends on this board is nuts.
I am not trying to make friends here. I am trying to deliever a message to the Plex team that I am unhappy with the app.
They have the right to just ignore my request and not do any of the features I suggested.
I am fine with that. I really am.
As I said before. It's you guys that are getting the most upset about all of this.
Thats uncalled for. Parental controls is one of the most requested features for plex, and in my opinion long over due. Telling someone to "get a life" for wanting that is just ridiculous.
Totally on the same page. I'm thinking that OP was little bit harsh with the situation but I'm not judging this. This is beyond my clearance.
But guys; please stop offering folder separation and multi user setup as a solution for parental issues.
This not a enterprise network environment where you lock your computer and stuff. We are talking about family here. And personally I do not want to dig into 2000 of my movies and move them in to separate folders. (Please don't tell me there are tools for that. I know that too) Why the hell? Structured data is already dead and thats why Google worth $370.8B as we speak. We have meta data. We can build libraries, policies, views, security, search (right now you can't even search your library for the tags you might add to movies) etc. around that. Whatever we want, when ever we want. Like; kid movies, oscars, or build libraries arround genres, long movies, 80s etc. You name it. What ever your want. Should I create separate folders for every one them?
Almost every media manager software have parental controls. MB3, My Movies, XBMC (with addon) or even your Satellite Set Top Box. So missing parental controls in Plex is a huge gap for some of us. So please stop turning around the problem and face with it :) I'm posting about this because I like Plex and I will be more than happy to see it improving.
By the way I'm pretty sure that this will come to Plex. Because I know how software development life cycle works ;)

Just my 2 cents.
Only one of us, who clearly doesn't represent the majority opinion, have said parental controls shouldn't come to Plex. Plex devs have said they're working on it anyways.
But people are trying to post currently supported workarounds to the problem described. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that as long as the solutions are workable.

Totally agree all I'm saying is that that solution might not work for some of us.
Digging my own grave? Dude, this is a message board about an app.
Yeah digging your own grave, it's called an idiom, i.e. making it so people wont help you in the future because of your pretentious and ignorant nature. I am fully aware this is a message board, but it is also a community in which you continually disrespect with your obnoxious attitude.
I'll be fine. People disagree with me. I am cool with that.
I spoke my displeasure for the app. I hope the Plex team heard me.
I am sure you will be fine—you haven't been bothered by anything anyone has said to you, good or bad. Do you really think the Plex team is going to highlight your thread, one where you basically call them out for releasing a poorly made app, and "listen" to your complaints?
If not, o well. That's life. But saying I am digging my own grave.

Once again you are mistaken in your perceptions of this community, and how your behavior affects it. Your comment regarding making friends here is a clear indication that you are not a nice guy in real life, as you so desperately claim to be. I personally would love to make friends here and support them however I can, and vice versa. You, on the other hand, just want to have everything your way. And you say you are totally fine if your suggestions are ignored? Then why do you continue to post here? Why even bother arguing further about it? You are clearly upset about it, as well as all the criticism pointed at you, otherwise you wouldn't waste your time responding.

As I figured, another person who wants to flame me. Yes, people who know me personally would say I am a nice guy.
You guys are the one getting all upset over something you don't agree with. You see, if this was someone else expressing frustration. I would have never came to their post and rip them for having a disagreement. You see, that is what you are doing.
You are flaming someone for having a disagreement, So flame on my friend. Because I will never flame you are anyone else here. As I said before. I am venting my frustrations over an "app". Not a person. You on the other hand are personally attacking me.
So flame on if you must. I am not going to flame you for your opinions.

Flame? I love the fact that you totally disregard everything I have said in my last few responses to you, and resort to calling my comments "flames." If you were such a nice guy you would see that people were/are trying to help you, but you insist on proving that your opinion is the only one that is right.

I think you should work on your reading comprehension. Nobody is ripping you simply because you expressed your frustrations—you went out of your way to complain about how poor the app is. I, along with others, have reiterated multiple times now that your attitude is bad and your approach to your criticism was done in poor taste (remember when I spoke about having tact?). And any of us who are upset would likely be because you are purposefully ignoring suggestions that could help you, as well as trying to justify your actions. Have you ever heard the saying that honey works better than vinegar? And we all know that you are such a nice guy who would never "rip" someone for having a disagreement...

If you are going to play the victim card, and of all things use internet jargon, at least make the effort to make sense of it. I never "flamed" you simply because of a disagreement. I called you out for being obnoxious and ungrateful towards those who were trying to help you. Additionally, you did not post some innocent post with constructive criticism for the Plex team. Rather, you posted multiple threads detailing your complaints in very negative ways, again veiled criticism. auxilio did a good job highlighting this:
I hear you saying that you just want to express frustration with the app. But please pay careful attention to this next sentence, because it's the part you seem to be missing: your tone comes across as condescending because of how you are choosing to express yourself.
Here's some things that you said that come across as offensive, whiny, or condescending:
"Very disappointed with XBox One App"
"Plex isn't that great"
"To me this is a common sense feature that is missing from the Xbox client"
"I don't know what you do for a living. But I have been a software engineer for over 13 years."
"Security rights of the sever and client is a no brainer that should have been thought of up front"
"I strongly felt the security feature is a no brainer"
"I am saying I am disappointed in what they created"
You can keep ignoring the facts, and continue your poor behavior because it seems like that's all you know how to do.

Well, good morning to you Bob.
As I expected. Another flame and now you are name calling. Telling people they can't read.
Once again, I have never said anything close like this to you Bob.
Look at what denethor wrote above. That's the type of response that is none flaming.
Yes, he/she said what I wrote might have came across a little harsh. But this person did not flame me as you are. Why should I listen to you Bob. When you are flaming me and trying to put me down.
I am not a victim. But it doesn't change the fact that you are still trying to flame me.

Okay now I believe you are just trolling. Once again you resort to saying that I am flaming you instead of looking at the facts and what I am actually saying. When somebody tells you that you need to work on your reading comprehension, that's not a flame. I was being 100% serious that I think you are having trouble understanding what others tell you as each of your responses have ignored the bulk of my comments; you choose to only respond to the parts you find to be flames. Is English even your first language? With your grammatical errors and referencing of a "Bob," I have a hard time believing this to be the case.
And seriously, look up the definition of flaming on the internet before you use it so recklessly. I guarantee you that what I have said to you is not a flame. I never called you names, I haven't been hostile/threatening, nor did I use any profanity. I ADDRESSED your poor behavior and lack of etiquette on this board. That's not putting you down or insulting you. Again, stop playing the victim and own up to your own actions. And I am not alone in this—other people have expressed similar sentiments and told you the same things. Yet you are choosing to ignore this and decrying "flames" as a response.
I would lock it down, but I trust our community to be responsible and tone things down. If the OP wants to write his own Plex app for XB1, more power to him. Otherwise, we're of course open to constructive criticism.

Elan, just lock it down man. I have no problem with that seriously. I expressed my frustration and it seemed to pissed some people off. No problem. Lock the thread.
