I have a very strange issue. Plex client (Android TV) is running on my new Xiaomi UST projector.
In plex client I set transcoding quality to “maximum” for local and internet connections. So the goal is to disable transcoding (NAS not powerful enough).
If I connect my projector with wifi, everything works as expected and original video quality is shown. However, when I connect my projector with an UTP LAN connection, Plex starts transcoding every video.
I’m having this issue too. Quality is set to max on both home and local. But it just ignores that and transcodes everything then auto-converts up slowly.
I’m able to change it after the video starts, but that really makes it feel buggy and annoying.
So I’m not alone … Any explanation ? Because this is not making any sense. And I’m sure my UTP LAN connection has no technical issues. I get 1Gigbit transfer speeds.
My jetstream android tv plex app would always default to 400x200 when using ethernet connection, no matter what settings I used. After disconnecting ethernet and reverting to a/c WiFi, everything plays in HD (or directplay). You would think the lan connection would be a no brainer. Go figure.
Same issue with Mi Box S and ethernet hub TP-LINK UE330, only solution that worked for me was a downgrade to Plex 6.0.1 and setting remote quality to Orginal, my other Mi Box 3 works normal on UE330 and latest Plex app.
Only diference is the Android OS, MB S has a 8.1 and MB3 has 8.0.
