Check your PHT video settings. Make sure, if you see the option, use 16-255 color range is not not selected. It should be using the full 0-255 color range. The narrow range gives that whitish glow you are talking about.
Are you using a nvidia card? What kind of hdmi connection d you have ? HDMI 2.0 or 1.4?
