Video quality on samsung tv plex

Hello

when we set the plex video quality menu to a higher quality than the original:

Does the image look much better than the original?
What actually happens to the image?

thanks

I believe original is as good as you will get, I don’t believe anything can truly upconvert.

If it’s a 1080p video that’s the best you will get.

nothing will happen. it will just play at original

I did not understand .

can you be more clear?

increasing the quality of something or “upscaling” is not something the app can do. if the actual file is 720p 4mbit and you have the setting at 1080p 20mbit, it will play at 720p 4mbit. because that is as high as the file can go.

the setting is a maximum limit.

I am watching movies in .mkv and .mp4 on the plex of my samsung tv which are on pc / win 10 by network cable.

Is it possible for the image to deteriorate (become more blurred) as the film progresses over time?

this is happening with all the movies i see on tv.

could it be a Plex failure?
can you fix it?

Does paid plex have better video quality than free plex?

Free plex: Do you have “setup” in the pc program where the movies are in hd, to have a better video quality?

and buffering, is there a difference between the two versions?
and free, is there a buffering setting?

thanks

There is no difference.

There could be lots of reasons for quality change. on some Samsungs the wifi card seems to be faster than the ethernet for some reason so you could try that.

  1. the original video file could just be ripped that way at a constant quality and when it get to parts with higher bitrates those parts look a lower quality to keep the ripped rate constant (action scenes for example)

  2. like #1 if the video has parts that are higher than the selected quality settings

  3. if the Plex player is set to auto adjust based on network conditions.

  4. if network conditions are not great from the start.

  5. buffering happens when the video is a higher bitrate than some chain in the network

  6. you server computer cannot transcode fast enough if it is transcoding,

you said :
if the Plex player is set to auto adjust based on network conditions.

How can I adjust this parameter manually?
For a 4k movie, what would be the manual adjustment so that it does not lose performance while playing ?

Are there any other settings I can do to get Plex running at full priority / potential?

thanks

apologies. i was speaking generally. the Samsung app does not have that setting.

what are your quality settings in the app set to?

I’m talking about the plex that is on the pc where is the hard drive with the movie files.

can you change parameters of this type in it?

If you mean the web player in browser it is in https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/web/quality

how should i configure this screen you posted to have the highest quality / priority when watching movies with plex?

is there any other pages on plex, pc, for me to configure that increases video / audio quality and priority on the network?
