I will say that the Z9X has it’s strong points as it’s designed specifically for local playback of files and by local I mean attached or network. If this thing had a way to connect to Plex server and pull from that into their player it would be a no brainer for anyone. Otherwise there are a few setup steps you have to take to get your library over to it. Everything has its pro’s and con’s I guess.
Interesting. Not to hijack thread, but yeah it is an Android box but not Android TV. Doesn’t say if it does Atmos but perhaps it does with passthrough.
Had the same issues. I had issues with regular 1080p and 4k dolby vision. Playback starts fine but after about 2 mins frame drops start then it gets worse and worse till it crashes. Choppy playback, large network use that drops to nothing. Also I did not realize I was on the beta (I think I enabled it when dolby vision support was added). After figuring out how to disable the beta (option was on the google play store page) and waiting a few minutes for it to take I was able to roll back. 8.30 works, 8.31 stutters
So, multiple reports of the same issue. Multiple confirmations that rolling back to 8.30 fixes the issue and yet nothing but crickets from Plex - typical!!
Follow-up to my earlier post above, 4/25 from 27 Feb:
confirmed rolling back PLEX player to 8.30.2.31202 (c9b75f7a) is what fixed the issue.
I disagree that the line From the 8.31 changelog: Player: improve TrueHD playback performance is the dirty-rotten culprit. The first movie I was trying to play was a 4K, so yes, Dolby ATMOS, the second I tried was the 4K version of Rogue One (DTS-HD MA 7.1). I confirmed with Blu-Ray for American Underdog (ATMOS) was acting up. HOWEVER, the BDR copy of Eternals (DTS-HD MA 7.1) was skipping and messing up immediately.
This was happening with both 4K and BDR, with both Dolby ATMOS titles and DTS-HD MA 7.1 titles.
Regardless, getting off the Beta program so I could rollback to 8.30.2 was the solution. I provided the link for Android TV Plex Player beta (not server) Go to Google Play Store to become a Beta Tester
Client Version: 9.1.0.31720
Client: nVidia Shield Pro (2019), Experience 9.0.1(33.1.0.283)
Server Version: 1.25.8.5663
This issue has been happening more frequently lately, though I cannot say exactly when it started. A little outside of the issues people are having with 4K Audio Sync, I am having issues where when using the ‘Skip Intro’ button for TV Shows, the audio is not in sync with the video 25% of the time. Playing the same content as a test (S4, E9 of Futurama) results in 1 out of 4 times where the audio isn’t in sync after skipping the intro.
In order to fix, you have to rewind 10s and it will then be back in sync.
Attached logs of the few runs. Any troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.
Is the above something you are aware of? This has been happening for months and doesn’t seem to be being addressed. It is still present int he latest beta (from yesterday). I provided logs on one instance (where it took 4 times for it to occur, 3 were fine, the last time resulted in an audio sync issue with the exact same file).
