Server Version#: 1.25.7.5604-7000 (Synology DS918+ NAS)
Player Version#: 8.31.0.31311 & 8.31.2.31546
Plex Client: Nvidia Shield TV pro (2019)
Since the release of 8.31.0.31311, and also having now tried the 8.31.2.31546 release with no change, I am noticing choppy/laggy/desync video playback with everything from basic 1080 anime to lossless 4K UHD Blu-ray rips. If I revert to 8.30.2.31202 everything works fine with no issues on any type of content. I’ve factory reset the shield with all the latest updates and set everything up fresh, but that doesn’t change the behavior at all. Anyone experience this or have any idea how to get someone to take a look?
Context:
This typically starts no more than 2-5minutes into playback and while it begins as a small skip forward, it almost always ends with extreme lagging resulting in loading symbols and completely de-sync’d audio/video at best.
I exclusively use MKV files so I have no frame of reference for if it happens with other types
The type of video/audio codec doesn’t appear to matter
Most of what I have is fairly high bitrate source quality content so I can’t comment on smaller more compressed files
Most all if not everything I have is passed via Direct Play so I don’t have much if anything to reference outside of that
The first few files I checked were not TrueHD, and the last few were TrueHD. Given that and when this appears to have started for some folks, I’d say I don’t think it’s related.
@PhantomApollyon I alerted the dev to your report. I have corroborated your reported experience. @ChuckPa will be assisting to make sure this issue is pinpointed for the public channel release.
@Achilles Is there an idea of in what release this would be corrected? I see lots of application updates or betas but am unsure of if those contain the appropriate fixes.
