Anyone else having this issue? Any workarounds?
I’m having this issue too, I can see other users have watched content as I have Plexpy installed and I then see that content is on my on Deck that I have not been watching. I’ve been having this issue for a couple of releases now, thought the devs would have sorted it out, but i’m still having issues.
Are you using the trakt.tv plugin? If so, you need to create filter rules, so trakt does only consider your own playback.
Are the users inside your own local network or are they connected to your server using a VPN?
If so, you must require authentication from every Plex client.
In newer Plex versions this is enforced by default. But the user can still override it under Setttings - Server - Networks - (Show Advanced) - “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”
If used improperly, this will create the issue you are experiencing.
A third possible cause only applies if your server runs on FreeBSD or FreeNAS: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1263237/#Comment_1263237
Actually, there is a fourth possibility:
If the users are in your local network and you have enabled DLNA.
Since DLNA doesn’t support user authentication at all, you can only either disable it completely or you must accept that all playback activity over DLNA is credited to the server owner account.
