Server Version#: Nvidia SHIELD 1.14.1.5490
Player Version#: 7.13.0.9449
Hi Support,
I’ve been having some issues for a while now with videos suddenly being extremely slow to play in PLEX. I am using an NVIDIA SHIELD as the server and a Synology NAS as network storage. Everything is cabled gigabit so no network bottlenecks. I do notice a lot of SLOW queries in logs, not sure if these have any relevance to the problem.
I’m using the SHIELD as the client as well, have also tried y Samsung TV, SHIELD seems a lot slower to load even on lower bitrate content.
Accessing the network share from my laptop and opening a video file from there, it launches straight away.
Doesn’t seem like I’m going to get any form of resolution…just in time for my PLEX pass being up for renewal as well, don’t think I’ll be carrying it on if this is the only form of support for a service that I’m paying for…
So I solved my own problem…One of the 7.2 SHIELD experience updates (possibly 7.2.3) broke SMB for me…
My resolution was to limit the MAXIMUM SMB version to version 1 via my Synology file services settings on the Web UI
I’m guessing one of the recent updates added support for certain SMB versions or something but this literally crippled my setup with slow loading videos etc. Now everything plays instantly again.
Why on earth we can’t rollback OS versions on the SHIELD is beyond me.
It would be good if someone could at least acknowledge this as a problem because it’s affecting a lot of people that connect their SHIELD to NAS devices via SMB for PLEX from what I can see.
Hope this helps someone having the same problem because I’s been doing my head in…
