So it would be nice in the movie Sort section to have a By Decade option that opens a submenu that lists as such:
1900’s
1910’s
1920’s
1930’s
1940’s
etc
etc
etc
all the way to the current which is
2010’s
That way if you feel like watching an 80’s movie…u just cherry pick just those instead of sorting by date and scrolling through 1,000 movies to try to pinpoint when the 80’s begin.
Not as easy as what you describe, but you can do this manually with playlists. Using Plex Web, create a filtered view with the dates you want, then save it as a playlist. The playlist will auto-update as you add additional movies.
Limitation: You have to manually create the playlists.
Limitation: Playlists are per-library, so if you have multiple movie libraries, you’ll have to create playlists for each of them.
First of all I have 29 Categories (mostly by Genre and then I got 4k and 3D) so creating 29 playlists isn’t something I want to or should have to do.
How is it not easy? Plex runs on a computer…ur telling me a computer can’t scan the Year’s of movies and then display them? LOL. That’s super easy. I’m sure a first year coder could do it. Putting things into a list that’s like the reason why compturs were made LOL. Hard to do he says
And what u mean what client? Is there a client that already has it? Cuz none of mine do (Web/LGTV/Xbox)
It’s a super GG idea and I hope it’s implemented would make viewing movies and using Plex much for fun, appealing and interactive.
