Vizio TV intermittently won't connect to Plex

I posted this a while ago in the Plex Pass general discussion forum, but maybe it fits better here (darn, meant to post this new one in the Vizio TV discussion-oops.) I’m really having a lot of trouble with my Vizio TV connecting to Plex. It times out now more often than it connects. I’ve tried both wired Ethernet and wireless, and it seems to have problems both ways. I don’t have any issues playing Amazon Prime video or Netflix from the TV, so I don’t think it’s a network issue. Since I posted this originally, I’ve tried resetting Plex on the TV several times, and reset the entire TV back to default. It still connects only intermittently.

Here is my original question:

I have a Vizio Smart TV that is connected via wired Ethernet to my Plex Media Server. Both are on the same network switch. At some point a few months back I started having an issue where occasionally the TV app takes a long time to connect to Plex, and eventually will come back with a “reset Plex?” message. Sometimes this happens before I choose the user and sometimes after I chose the user but before Plex starts. Once I get into Plex it seems to work just fine. Videos start playing quickly when I press play, menus are responsive, playback is fine, etc. It is currently timing out and getting to that “reset Plex?” message about half the time I try to start it. I turn off the TV at the point and start over, and usually the next time it will connect normally, though sometimes I have to go through that sequence three or four times to connect. Even when it does work, it seems to take longer than it should to connect. I don’t think I’ve had any issues with other devices on the same network - I have Rokus, TiVo boxes, web clients, and iOS clients that all connect quickly. I’ve said “yes” to the reset Plex message several times and have had to reconnect it. I’m currently on server version 1.4.0.3224, but this has been happening for at least the last several versions. I don’t remember exactly when it started, but I know it’s been at least a few months. The server is Windows 10, with a Realtek PCIe GBE NIC. I updated to the latest NIC drivers, and am using the default driver settings. The PMS is dedicated and only used for Plex.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to try to troubleshoot this issue, or if there is any additional information I should provide.
Thank you!

I am having the same issues who my Vizio 4k TV. Everything works “fine” except for Plex!
forget about streaming 4k content, I can’t even play back x264, multi channel AAC shows encoded at 720p/3200kbps. WTF
Every tome I want to watch a shows like Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, the Flash or an HD movie, I have to switch remotes and boot up my Xbox 360! That isn’t only SAD, its wrong.
If television device manufacturers can get Netflix 4k videos playing across the Internet, why can I play a 720p video on my local network’s 100/1000GB network?
I use Plex or viewing 95% of all my television now which equals may hours a day. I record and encode daily from cable to allow Plex recognize and play them. I shouldn’t have to encode a show 2x - one in good quality and another in poor quality so I can watch them directly on my television.
I wouldn’t mind using my Xbox 360 TERRIBLY if it had the same features as the TV client - skip ahead or play directly from the main menu.
Problem like this one make me think Plex is someone’s hobby or co-op project and not a business.
