Voice Activity fails on SOME files

Hi all!

I have some trouble with analyzing my library. Some of the files (like 1 out of 100) are finishing Voice Activity with errors.

ERROR - Butler: Uncaught exception running subtask ButlerTaskGenerateVoiceActivity: gzip error: unspecified iostream_category error

It can be one episode of entire season, others are fine. Issue persists on schedule scan and also a manual scan of an episode in question.

What i tried

  1. Made sure that /transcode have all rights (777)
  2. Restarted server, restarted plex
  3. Deleted Codec folder in appdata

Questions
If the file is the problem, how can i tell? Can i fix it (recode file for example idk)?
Files are playing a OK on all of my devices.

Hey! I’ve notice this happening to me as well…

Not all files, just some. When i try to manually analyze the file i get this error to:
Thread: Uncaught exception running async task which was spawned by thread 11964: gzip error: iostream stream error

It also seems to completely stop all analyzing once it encounters a file and generates this error, which is annoying for scheduler and manual analyzing…

Did you find find a solution, or is there a plex solution to this?

One working solution is disabling voice activity analyze at all. Since i don’t understand this feature and never used it.

I narrower the problem down to exact files that causes it. Replacing/deleting the file also fixes the scanning problem (no bad file → no error).

So most likely it’s a file problem or some obscure software bug down the stream (plex/ffmpeg/gzip)
