When will we be able to control the system volume on plex with the apple remote?

I really don’t want to use front row anymore but that’s the only reason I haven’t abandon it yet.

The problem is two-fold:

1. Holding down up/down keys is used for scrolling around lists, so the workaround of using it for volume control would only work in full-screen video mode.
   
   
   
2. If you’re outputting sound to a receiver, it’s technically impossible to use the Apple Remote to alter the volume of a video with DD/DTS sound.
   
   
   
   Knowing of of that, would you still like the Apple Remote to be able to control the volume in those limitation situations?

Yes I know that is only possible in full screen video mode but it would still be useful at least for one thing to me, you see my mac is in my room, so sometimes I like to plug in my headphones directly to the soundcard , lay down on my bed and listen to my favorite songs with the apple remote in hand wich I can use to adjust the volume in Front Row...I don't like Front Row anymore.

When I'm listening music in Front Row I just can't stop thinking about the sound quality I'm losing when I don't use Plex.

Is that the reason why my mkv video's with 5.1 sound are not as loud as my avi files?

No, the mkvs with 5.1 has original dynamic range kept. Avi's stereo downmixes are usually compressed to thrash. Plex's sound control has nothing to do with this.

I really understand that plex sends his analog (or digital) signal to an other device like an external amplifier so that we control the master volume of it but in the case one uses the analog output the problem is pretty “big”.

I use Plex in fullscreen mode instead FrontRow and it would be great if there is a way to control the system volume with the apple remote.

I think it is possible improving plex settings or by file like the KeyMapping in Application Support.

If there is a way to di it I’m happy to do it by myself!

Oh, that’s cool but it just change the PLEX volume: 0.0dB to -60dB. It means that it doesn’t change the Leopard Output!
